Celebrating Symbols is an accomplished drawing which reliesonexquisite control of the medium, and a composition structure which makes this a completely compelling work. The Jury remarked that this impressive, highly detailed contemporary work,incorporated many elements which were drawn from Balinese painting – in particular the fine line work and allegorical narrative structures embodied within the composition – and were impressed by how the artist explored the connections and disconnections experienced by individuals as they float within a mindscape of the built environment.
