Description
Ni Bawang had been banished to the forest because of the jealousy of her lazy sister, Ni Kesuna. As Ni Bawang slept, heavenly birds adorned her with fine jewelry. Expecting the same fortune, the lazy sister followed into the woods and encountered the heavenly birds, but was instead afflicted with leaches, worms, scorpions and poisonous insects.
In this drawing, Dwi Artha depicts the good sister (Ni Bawang) asleep, as she is visited by several nymphs. Some take the form of birds carrying fine jewelry from heaven to adorn her.
