Description
Painted on discarded wooden boards, the painting depicts a classic Ramayana story of the lovers Rama and Lakshmana. The Jury were impressed by the approach to this classic story and how the painting, on unconventional materials, reinforces the tale of these two lovers. This is especially clear where the two interlocking figures of this painting, meld into the wooden support andat different moments, completely disintegrating into each other. This is perhaps a reference to their union, and also illustrates an integration of the traditional story into broader concepts of the natural environment.
