Numerous repetitive Barong create the image of the iconic Gate of the Elephant Cave. The artist embraces the spirit of voluntary service by depicting a site created by an entire community of people. This monochrome work captures that thin line between figurative and abstract, tradition and modern, material and immaterial. Here the Balinese spirit is either fading or coming into focus.
