All people are composed of a soul and a mind. Quite often our thoughts run out of control, and become unstable. Our thoughts can be motivated by our desires and an ego centric search for pleasure. Its not that our thoughts are neccesarily destructive, just short sighted. Being awash in fleeting pleasures limits our ability to perceive the role of suffering in life, and our abilty to understand the fuller meaning of life.
